Until now, it’s been “flat”. Now we have to deal with the difference in altitude. And it’s with tired calves that the riders climb their first real passes.

The math is simple: in one big stage, they’ll double the metres climbed since the start of the French Divide.

Cows will be their only support against the mountains.
